There is never a dull moment at T6. We work on a range of topics, including sustainability, disinformation, social innovation, tech for good, health and wellbeing, the power of creative arts, and cultural heritage. We also pride ourselves on offering diverse research activities and services. These span from science communication, exploitation, and dissemination activities to project management to proposal writing to policy dialogue to research.

The research we conduct at T6 is also equally wide-ranging. Our research embraces an interdisciplinary approach including quantitative techniques (e.g. analysis of statistics, key indicator monitoring, sentiment analysis, social network analysis), qualitative methods (e.g. discussion groups, interviews, workshops), evaluation and impact assessment methodologies, stakeholder engagement and mapping, and literature reviews. We devise a bespoke research methodology for each project to ensure that the proposed approach is tailored to the research questions, providing the most appropriate results.

Examples of typical research activities

Here is a selection of research tasks, to give you a flavour of the breadth of the activities carried out at T6:

  • Stakeholder mapping and interviews with industry experts on the enablers and challenges, for example, on the uptake of circular practices for CircEUlar: Learn more by reading our news item here.
  • Researching and developing policy briefs for European policy makers, for example, on fact checking and disinformation. Check out our two policy briefs we developed as part of the policy dialogue process in Latif: Strengthening impartiality for the fact-checking and Defending European Democracy – Main Threats And Measures To Countering Disinformation.
  • Running capacity building workshops and matchmaking sessions for community groups. Currently, we have just organised one as part of  PartArt4OW to encourage participating in the first Open Call bringing together art, community and ocean conservation.
  • Co-designing, developing and implementing impact assessment methodologies for citizen science projects through IMPETUS or to evaluate the intersection of art, science and technology in relation to specific challenges in STARTS EC(h)O.

Commonalities

The individual research tasks are very diverse, however, they are all linked by several commonalities. The research T6 undertakes in the various EU Horizon projects is at the forefront of the societal, technological, scientific, and environmental challenges we face today. In addition to state-of-the-art research techniques to collect and analyse data, we strive to include participatory processes within our working practices in project research consortiums, providing feedback loops back into the project design. Furthermore, often, we work to ensure that the research insights and outputs have impacts beyond the scientific community, reaching both practitioners and policy-makers.

At T6, there truly never is a dull moment when carrying out applied research at the nexus of science, policy, and practice.
